De Graafschap Vrouwen has strengthened its squad with goalkeeper Dionne van der Wal. The 23-year-old keeper has signed a one-season contract in Doetinchem, with an option for another year. Van der Wal began her career at SC Heerenveen, making her debut at the age of sixteen. In the summer of 2022, she moved to Ajax, where she gained valuable experience in the Eredivisie. In May 2025, she made her official debut for Ajax in the home match against Telstar.

After her time in Amsterdam, Van der Wal continued her career at HERA United. Her talent was recognized when she was called up for Jong Oranje for the first time last season. Women's football manager Hilde Gerritsen is excited about Van der Wal's arrival. She emphasizes that despite her young age, Dionne has already gained a lot of experience and has significant potential as a goalkeeper.

Dionne herself is looking forward to her new challenge at De Graafschap. She describes the club as ambitious with a clear vision for women's football. She hopes to further develop herself and achieve great results together with the team. The D'RAN mentality of De Graafschap resonates with her. The club warmly welcomes Dionne van der Wal and wishes her much success in the blue and white.
